The life size Gundam RX-78-2 statue is just one of the three major projects planned for Gundam 30th Anniversary it seems.
"Real G", "Feel G", and "Soul G" are the titles for the three projects mentioned. "Real G refers to the statue mentioned.
"Feel G" refers to Gundam Big Expo to be held in Tokyo Big Sight from August 21st till 23rd. On top of the display of various merchandises, video games, and stage events, an original short movie will be shown as well. However, at the same time, it is revealed that "there are no plans to broadcast [another Gundam] television series in 2009." -- from Anime News Network.
"Soul G" refers to "Gundam 30th Anniversary Commemoration Music Live", a music festival dedicated to the warriors from the anime.
Also, Bandai Namco Group announced that part of the sales from Gundam goods will be contributed to "Green Tokyo Gundam Project" (GREEN TOKYOガンダムプロジェクト).
Not much details were disclosed about these two projects as compared to "Real G".
With the explicit statement about having no new Gundam anime coming in this year, it does help (in a disappointing way for some) to eliminate one possibility of how Gundam UC0081 will be presented.
