1/1 Scale Gundam RX-78-2 Statue Dismantling Begins

The dismantling work of the 1/1 scale Gundam RX-78-2 at Shiokaze Park has begun since Thursday (September 10th), with its head and both arms removed first.

Built for Bandai Namco Group's " Bandai Namco Groups' "Real G" Green Tokyo Gundam Project, the statue was truly the highlight of Gundam 30th Anniversary. According to the same report, the total number of visitor to the park between July 11th and August 31st when the statue was opened for public viewing was 4 million and 152 thousand, which totally exceed the original expectation of 1.5 million. ^^

Reports with photos during the first few days of the statue's opening can be found in this previous posting. Also, the opening ceremony can be seen in this previous posting, and this one as well.

Also, since the dismantling work only began last Thursday, the statue remained at the park for more than a week after the closing date of August 31st.

But who's going to complain anything about it anyway. ^^

There's no mentioning of where the statue is heading to after the dismantling work is finished though.
