Tetsujin 28 Statue in Kobe Opening Ceremony

Completed last week, the statue of Tetsujin 28 located at Wakamatsu Park (若松公園) in Shinnagata, Kobe (神戸 新長田) was officiated yesterday (October 4th).

A hot afternoon yesterday did not stop fans and the general public to attend the ceremony. As a matter of fact, the sunny weather presents a great opportunity for photo shooting the (new) robot statue.

The construction of this statue, last for about three months after it was initiated in late July. The objective, is part of the effort by an NPO (non profit organization) committee to commemorate Mitsuteru Yokoyama-sensei, the creator of Tetsujin 28, who passed away in 2004.

The expenditure for the construction was actually being funded by the generous donation from fans since June 17th, 2006

Mecha fans should travel to Kobe to have a look at this statue. ^^ There's no mentioning that it's going to be removed though, so I believe Tetsujin 28 has found its new home at the park in Kobe, permanently. ^^
