Shizuoka Hobby Show, the 49th edition this year, is the world's biggest hobby-related exhibition event, and it has been holding that title for many years already. ^^ Held in Shizuoka, the heartland of Japan's hobby industry, the event displays non just Gunplas, but model kits from almost all genres. So, unless you build no model kit at all, there'll definitely be something to look forward to at Shizuoka Hobby Show.
This year, the event will be held at Twin Messe Shizuoka Convention starting from tomorrow (May 13th) till May 16th. The first two days are meant for industry members, the last two days are for the public. The event opens at 9.30AM on May 13th, so do expect the first light of updates at around noon time (Malaysian time), or maybe earlier than that.
I've being blogging for 4 years now, and here's a little summary of the awesomeness displayed in the previous editions of Shizuoka Hobby Show:
2009: MG Exia, MG Guntank, HG 1/144 Gundam RX-78-2 Ver. G. 30th, HGUC Unicorn Gundam, HGUC Kshatriya.
2008: MG Gundam Ver. 2.0, MG G Armor, MG Guntank (with motor and remote control gimmick, which was eventually dropped), MG Shin Musha Gundam, MG Zaku Cannon, HGUC Zaku II FZ, HGUC Sazabi, HGUC Kampfer
2007: MG Turn A Gundam, SHCM-Pro Gundam RX-78-2, announcement of BB Senshi Sangokuden series, 1/100 Alteisen (Kotobukiya)
2006: MG F91, HGUC GP02A, 1/100 Astray Gold Frame Amatsu, HG 1/144 Verde Buster, HG 1/144 Blu Duel.
This year however, something special is planned for Bandai's Gunpla section - the winner from "MG Wishlist MS Survey" will be announced. It's going to be one from the top 5 MSs as revealed in last month's issues of hobby magazines: Gundam 00 Raiser, Gundam Double X, V2 Gundam, Turn X and The O. Those who voted would be eagerly anticipating the result I suppose.
