Unlike the 1/1 scale Gundam RX-78-2 statue at Shiokaze Park where each part was built and then assembled at the same time, the statue of Tetsujin 28 at Kobe seems to take a different approach for its construction: all the parts were built at its factory first, then comes the assembly and painting processes.
The assembly stage of the project was officially initiated yesterday (July 27th) at a ceremony by the Mayor of Kobe. The fully painted, 2.5 meters tall head of Tetsujin 28 was revealed during the ceremony. The head alone weights 900 kilograms.
It's revealed that the completed statue itself isn't going to be 18 meters in height, but 15.3 meters only, as some of its height will be offset by the action pose of the legs. The distance between the two legs will be 16.5 meters. The entire statue weights 50 tons.
Scheduled to be completed by the end of September, and the opening ceremony will be on October 4th.
Another important "shrine" to visit for mecha fans ^^
