A Visit to Bandai Hobby Center - Gunpla Factory

Gigazine's report on the visit to Bandai Hobby Center in Shizuoka continues after the first one a week ago with a look at the actual production plant of plamo kits at the center.

1980 - Gunpla production began,
1982 - Multi-color molding machines deployed,
1985 - 4-Color molding machines deployed, which are in use til today - 13 units.

Bandai's 1/15 scale Tiger I, a super vintage model kit I believe.

Great Mazinger

Nightingale! Not sure if this is the resin MG prototype displayed many years ago, but looks like there has been no progress on the monster for a long time already. ^^;
Sumo is sleeping on the right in the first picture. XD

This is how the earliest Gunpla was developed - design sketched on paper and prototype made from wood.

Dalong Dotnet has one, if you're interested to know more. :)

Bandai Hobby Center received the Silver Challenge Award for the design of 1/350 Space Battleship Yamato.

The runners are collected in a container after being produced.

Automated transport machine in Char's Zaku II color scheme that carries the containers of runners to the packaging section (?)
The machine can detect obstacles in front of it and give warning.
