The statue was there to promote for the game "SD Gundam Capsule Fighter Online".
Developed by Soft Max, Korea, the game started in that country in February 2007. After that, it appeared in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Currently, the game has more than 11 million players. For Japan however, it seems that the game was only launched very recently.
